AI search changes how some people discover and compare businesses. It does not make SEO, useful pages or evidence obsolete. A practical strategy starts with information that helps a customer decide and a website that makes the next step easy.
The earlier framing of AI “outranking SEO” was too absolute. AI answers and search results are different experiences, and their behavior depends on the platform and query. Treat a new discovery channel as something to evaluate rather than a reason to abandon work that serves your customers.
Start with the business question behind the search
A visitor may be comparing options, checking feasibility, looking for a supplier or trying to understand cost. Give those intentions appropriate destinations. A service page should explain the work and next step. A guide should answer a specific question. A project page should show evidence.
Avoid making several articles that repeat the same broad promise. Use supporting content to resolve distinct questions, such as how an integration is scoped, what a prototype should prove or what ongoing support includes.
Keep foundational search work in place
Google says SEO remains relevant to its generative AI search features. See its current optimization guidance. It does not prescribe a special AI-only schema as a prerequisite.
For the business owner, the useful response is a maintained site: accessible pages, accurate titles, relevant internal links and information that remains current. Review old offers and outdated articles as part of that work. A good new landing page cannot fully compensate for contradictory promises elsewhere on the same site.
Make your experience visible
Explain the actual problem, the work delivered and the skills a prospect can apply to a different situation. Separate measured results from descriptions of functionality. If a result lacks a defined period and supporting records, do not present it as a verified performance figure.
Useful evidence can include a documented case study, a representative workflow, an approved screenshot or an explanation of a difficult implementation choice. The purpose is to make capability assessable, not merely to repeat that the business is experienced.
Use AI to support an editorial process
AI can help organize notes, draft alternatives and identify questions an article has not answered. A responsible publishing process still needs original input, factual checks and a clear decision about what deserves to be published.
Do not turn one idea into many near-identical pages to cover slight keyword variations. Prefer a useful page that can be maintained. When several existing pages overlap, decide which should be the main resource and plan any consolidation with redirects and link updates.
Measure the whole path to an inquiry
Review the pages visitors land on, the services they explore and the inquiries that follow. Ask whether contacts fit the work you want to do. A higher visit count can be unhelpful if it attracts people seeking a free tool when the site sells custom implementation.
Record the source where it is available, while recognizing that attribution can be incomplete. Use actual conversations to learn which explanations or examples helped a prospect act. Those observations can guide the next content improvement.
Choose the next improvement by its usefulness
Fix incorrect information and broken links first. Then strengthen the services, project evidence, cost explanation and contact path. Add supporting guides where a genuine question remains unanswered. This gives visitors arriving through either search or an AI answer a coherent reason to spend more time with the business.
